I travel a lot for work. To most of my shoots I drive at least 2 hours to get to the locations. Some months I’ll have multiple traveling shoots a week! I love it but I can’t deny that all that time in the car can get a little boring. Listening to the same music over and over again can get repetitive. Plus, after about an hour of singing my heart out and performing a little concert for myself, my voice hurts and I’m ready to do something else. That’s when podcasts make their appearance. Here’s a list of podcasts I love to listen to that keep me entertained and awake on the road!
The Secret Life of Weddings
Literally my favorite podcast of all time. Two wedding photographers from Canada share wedding disaster stories, and it’s SOOO funny! If you are a future bride and want a good laugh to relieve the stress during wedding planning, this is a great one to listen to. Hopefully it helps you and teaches you things not to do on your wedding day, I know I’ve learned a lot from it!
The What We Said Podcast
Okay, not my favorite podcast of all time but definitely a great one to go to if I’m craving a little girl talk. I pick and choose which episodes to listen to since not all of them grab my interest. But the best ones are where listeners share their stories, like “worst first dates” or “crazy family secrets”. It always gives me a good laugh and helps distract from the long hours on the road for sure.
Showmance: Glee Recap Edition
This one is for all my fellow Gleeks out there! Jenna and Kevin (aka Tina and Artie) are currently recapping every episode of Glee and sharing behind the scenes stories from things they remember about filming the episodes. It’s perfect for someone like me who can never get enough of Glee and is obsessed with hearing behind the scene stories.
How I Built This
I’m sure many of you will be really familiar with this podcast. NPR’s “How I Built This” podcast is great for listening to stories of different business owners and how they created a product that they love. This always inspires me to keep working hard and push through the hard times of running a business. When I’m in a rut, this really helps me get out of my head and keep working on the things I love. Plus it’s fun listening to the backstory of how my favorite things came to be.
The Almost Famous Podcast
This is the ultimate podcast to listen to if you are a mega bachelor fan like me. Ben and Ashley started this podcast years ago after Ben’s season aired. I have been listening in to hear all the Bachelor tea and let me tell ya… it is delicious. 😈 They do such a great job of recapping all the episodes, giving a little behind the scenes, sharing any Bachelor Nation news, and interviewing people from the show. Their episodes are usually 1-1.5 hours which is perfect for those long drives I make often.
Podcasts are really fun for me, and definitely help make the time fly by. I listen to them while driving, during a long day of editing, or in the mornings when I really need to be motivated. I know there are other podcast nerds out there so next time you’re looking for a good one, grab one from this list! I’d love to talk about it with you the next time I see ya.
